NEW YORK CITY (February 9, 2010) –  STARK TO RELEASE THIRD STUDIO ALBUM RACE TO THE FLOOR

STARK will release a third album of nine songs, Race To The Floor, March 9, 2010. The New York City CD Release Party will be held March 13th at 10pm at Arlene's Grocery on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and the first 50 people in the door will receive a free STARK tote bag filled with a copy of the album and other goodies, like autographed posters. There will be several lines of t's and tanks to purchase at a discount for the nights of the parties only. The Pennsylvania CD release will be March 27th at Crocodile Rock Cafe in Allentown as part of Fetzer Fest III.

With the addition of Joe Hogan on guitar, expect to have your speakers rattling as you are reminded of 70's FM radio. STARK likes to joke that this is the new classic rock. The original hard rock trio has produced a completely DIY project with Hogan once again doing his magic behind the board, mixing and engineering at Loho Studios, Atlantic Recordings, and Big Blue Meenie. Drummer Eric Robel contributed all of the artwork, including taking the photos on a timer without a photographer. Finally, founder and front-woman Lani Ford, a multi ASCAP Plus award winner and Daisy Rock Guitars endorsed artist, financed the majority of the project while updating all of the sites, booking gigs and tours, running press and radio campaigns, and maintaining relationships with thousands of contacts. The band is already writing new material for an EP that will feature live tracks from the CD Release Party plus a cover or two.

"It can be maddening," says Ford of completing the project with 3 people, "but it is very rewarding to know it's a product of our own blood, sweat, and beers!" The album has been "leaked" to a few of STARK's favorite radio and internet stations and has been receiving airplay as well as this comment from Douglas Craig at NYCMusic.net: "I got a chuckle when I saw the title--very Stark!...you guys have knocked this one right out of the park!"

In 2009, STARK played GNYC-TV’s M.E.A.N.Y.Fest in NYC at The Studio at Webster Hall. STARK’s Hogan and Ford played the Indiegrrl in the Arts Conference and Showcase in Nashville. Ford was a guest host on the internet show Rew & Who and also DJ'd the New York Waste Compilation CD in the fall of 2009. Lani has appeared on Frankie Russo's Rock Chicks Live on chataboutit.com many times over the past year and was Spotlight Artist for the week of February 8, 2010. Lani also played a 10 day solo acoustic tour in the UK in November 2009, opening for the band Lilith's Army.

STARK will be returning to the UK in June 2010. STARK’s music video for the song “OH NO!” won Best Music Video at The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival in October 2009. In the meantime, STARK’s sophomore CD Put It To Your Head has been receiving great press and radio all over the world since it’s release in January 2008.

NEW YORK CITY (NOVEMBER 13, 2009) – In the televised 2009 BETA Award ceremonies held at the Lovinger Theater in the Bronx, NY on November 12, “The Rhythms of New York” television series won the award in the 'Best Entertainment/Variety/Performing Arts" category.

“The Rhythms of New York” is the television series that examines the unique musical scene that helps make NYC the “Media Capital” of the world. The program showcases artists ranging from beginners to highly seasoned professionals from a vast array of cultures. This diverse program is produced and hosted by respected entertainment industry veteran, Dave Brodsky, and co-hosted by actress Celinez Bosque. Dave and Celinez doggedly scour the The Big Apple for artists that help to make up its musical heritage and then showcase their performances on "The Rhythms of New York". These performances are recorded live and are combined with interviews of the artists. The interviews will enable the viewer to share the dreams, ego, and indecision that are a part of being a musician in the fishbowl that is New York.

Dave Brodsky, the recipient of the BETA (Bronx Excellence in Television Access) Award, stated "It's an honor to receive the BETA Award. 'The Rhythms of New York' is all about giving performers a forum that they may otherwise not have to showcase their talents." He added, that "it's a team effort. Lani Ford of the New York City hard rock trio, STARK, will return to the UK November 10-20, 2009 to play several acoustic shows with Sylvie T and her band Lilith’s Army with several gigs in Southern England and London, including a return to the legendary Hope & Anchor. When STARK played in the UK in March 2008, while stopping for petrol on the highway between Leeds and London, they met their mirror image in the female-fronted hard rock trio Lilith’s Army. Sylvie T and Lani Ford became fast friends and STARK hosted Sylvie solo acoustic last April in NYC. Now, Lilith’s Army returns the favor and it should be fun as usual as the energy between these two lasses is undeniable and has already culminated in one collaboration between the singer/songwriters so far…they hope to have more after this experience.

Across the pond, STARK played October 2, 2009 for GNYC-TV’s M.E.A.N.Y.Fest in New York City with London Egg, The Grip Weeds, and Frank Sidebottom at The Studio at Webster Hall as part of a Little Steven’s Underground Garage and Wicked Cool Records showcase.

STARK’s Joe Hogan and Lani Ford returned from Nashville in August where the two played seven acoustic duo showcases as part of the Indiegrrl in the Arts Conference and Showcase. Lani will guest host on the radio show Rew & Who December 23rd.

In the summer of 2009, STARK also played the Girls Rock and Girls Rule Showcase at Hank's Saloon in Brooklyn, New York and Make Music New York for the 3rd year in a row. This year, the whole band was featured on Punk Island at Governor’s Island during a day of free music throughout the whole city. Lani Ford, a multi ASCAP Plus award winner and Daisy Rock Guitars endorsed artist, was a featured Triple R Girl for June on www.rockandrollreport.com. STARK’s music video for the song “OH NO!” (directed by Joe Covino of East Village Studios and shot in Coney Island, New York and at Arlene’s Grocery in NYC) was featured at The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival as well as the Royal Flush Film Festival, both in New York City in October 2009.

Lani is heading to the UK to play some acoustic shows with her cross-atlantic sister, Sylvie and her band Lilith's Army.

Race To The Floor is in the final prep stages so we should have news about our CD release party soon...it will be after the first of the year. In the meantime, we are getting quite a bit of pre-release airplay. We'll try to keep you updated. One song is up on myspace and one is here...check it!

The video for the song will be shown at the Royal Flush Film Festival and The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival both in New York in October.

STARK played Make Music New York for the 3rd year in a row. This year, the whole band was featured on the Punk Island stage 11 at Governor’s Island during a day of free music throughout the whole city. Lani Ford, a multi ASCAP Plus award winner and Daisy Rock Guitars endorsed artist, was a featured Triple R Girl for June on www.rockandrollreport.com.

STARK recently released a music video for the song “OH NO!” directed by Joe Covino of East Village Studios and shot in Coney Island, New York and at Arlene’s Grocery in NYC. The video has been accepted into the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival as well as the Royal Flush Film Festival, both in New York in October 2009.

STARK’s latest CD Put It To Your Head has been receiving great press and radio all over the world, especially in the U.S., the UK, Germany, Belgium and Australia since it’s release in January 2008. STARK is currently mixing a third album of nine songs, Race To The Floor, to be released this summer.
